Safety on the Internet - Children and Adults - Resource Page

While there are many dangers on the internet for both children and adults, there are also numerous public and private efforts to prevent and combat internet crime. In Michigan, an effective and far-reaching public awareness and prevention campaign was launched in 2000 by then Attorney General Jennifer Granholm and the Michigan State Police. that  educates parents, children and business owners as to the potential risks and dangers of internet usage.

The two organizations have launched a 24 hour, toll free, cyber-tip telephone hotline.  The hotline  assists law enforcement authorities in uncovering and prosecuting criminals who use the internet to commit cyber-crimes against children.  Anyone with information, or who experiences child sexual exploitation, including on-line enticement of children for sexual acts, child prostitution, or child sexual molestation, are asked to contact the Michigan state police by calling 1-877-5CYBER3.
